I'm on the new episode of the Edinburgh Tradfest podcast!
Listen to the story I developed and recorded with the musician Johanna Kirkpatrick as part of the Queer Stories workshops at the Scottish Storytelling Centre. It was inspired by a folktale from Uist in which a woman (dressed as a man) apprentices as a blacksmith, then marries the blacksmiths daughter.
My story is at the end, about an hour in. I hope you enjoy
It's that time again - Episode 11 of the Edinburgh Tradfest Podcast is out now!
In today's episode: Alice Allen and Patsy Reid introduce new album Strathspey Queens; you can learn about Adnan Shamdin's musical journey, enjoy an interview with our opening headliner Duncan Chisholm; hear 'Mary is a Blacksmith' from Cara Roberts and accompanied by Johanna Kilpatrick, get three cracking show recommendations; and maybe even catch an unprompted visit from Colin the terrier.
Please do rate/review/subscribe and share, it helps us spread the word about the show. And if you like what you hear, don't forget you can see a host of today's guests live as part of #EdinTradfest22.
